UP Budget 2026-27 focuses on women, policing

Significant allocations have been made for women-centric initiatives. Under Mission Shakti, Rs 25 crore has been proposed to purchase vehicles for women beat personnel to improve field outreach. The Safe City project will expand women police beats, CCTV surveillance and Anti-Romeo squads, while Working Women Hostels are being constructed in municipal corporations.

Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, 26.81 lakh girls have benefited till January 2026. In 2025-26, 39,880 BC Sakhis conducted transactions worth over Rs 39,000 crore in 58,000 gram panchayats, earning Rs 107 crore in commissions. Five milk producer companies under Mahila Samarthya Yojana have been proposed, with three already operational.

On law and order, the government claimed sharp declines in major crimes compared to 2016, including dacoity, robbery, murder and crimes against women. For police infrastructure, Rs 1,374 crore has been allocated for non-residential buildings, Rs 1,243 crore for housing, and additional funds for new districts and fire services.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also significantly increased allocations for health, medical education and AYUSH in the 2026-27 Budget, reinforcing its push to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand services statewide. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented a Rs 9.12 lakh crore Budget in the Assembly, marking a 12.2 per cent rise over the previous year.

For the Medical, Health and Family Welfare sector, Rs 37,956 crore has been earmarked, a 15 per cent increase over 2025-26.
