Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday that there is vast scope for the production of electronics equipment in places like Sricity, Hindupur and Kopparthi in Rayalaseema. Speaking in a review meeting on the newly formulated 'Electronics Components Manufacturing Policy 4.0' at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to formulate steps to attract investments worth $ 100 billion in the electronics sector.

The Chief Minister discussed the policy related to the electronics industry between 2025-30. Last year, electronic circuit boards worth $70 billion were imported in the country and there is a huge demand in the sector, officials said and explained to the CM that the new policy is aimed at reducing imports of electronics equipment, increasing domestic production and exports. The Chief Minister suggested that the objectives of Self Reliance and Made in India should be fulfilled in the field of electronics products.

He also stressed the need for creating a brand for the equipment produced as a crucial aspect. He suggested that apart from setting up industries, an eco-system suitable for production should also be set up. He said that at present land scarcity in cities like Bangalore and Chennai is very serious and suggested that areas like Sri City near Tirupati, Orvakallu, Kopparthi and Hindupur are suitable for setting up of electronics industries.

The chief minister said that the aim of the government is to have an entrepreneur in every household to take steps to encourage entrepreneurs. He directed the officials to integrate other portals with the skill portal for skill development and suggested curriculum to be updated so that opportunities are available in the state as well as at the national and international level. The CM on this occasion made it clear that his aim is to make AP number one in the knowledge economy.
