Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Ltd on Wednesday announced a major investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in Rajasthan to double production across its key sectors, including zinc, lead, silver, oil & gas, and renewable energy.

Addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas, Agarwal highlighted Rajasthan’s rich reserves of minerals, oil, and gas, saying the state has the potential to elevate India’s economic growth. “Just as Punjab feeds the nation, Rajasthan can supply the world with minerals and natural resources in the years to come,” he added.

As part of the expansion, Vedanta is establishing the Zinc International Industrial Park to support small and medium zinc manufacturing units. The park, with capacity for 200 new industries, will provide electricity, water, raw materials, and infrastructure, benefiting MSMEs and downstream sectors.

The company is also setting up North India’s first phosphate fertiliser plant in Rajasthan. Over the past decade, Vedanta has invested more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the state, generating lakhs of jobs and contributing nearly Rs 3 lakh crore to national and state exchequers.

Agarwal noted that after acquiring Hindustan Zinc, production increased tenfold, and India has transitioned from being a silver importer to a significant producer.
