Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu made a candid revelation on Monday, saying he has deliberately chosen not to write his autobiography because it would require him to disclose several untold truths that many people may not be comfortable with. He made the remarks while unveiling the book Venkaiah Nayakudu, authored by senior journalist Maa Sharma, at a function in Vijayawada.

Addressing the gathering, Venkaiah Naidu said many people had urged him to pen his life story over the years. However, he explained that writing an autobiography would compel him to place several facts and experiences in the public domain, which could prove inconvenient for some individuals. “That is why I have not written my autobiography,” he remarked. He added that he agreed to the publication of Venkaiah Nayakudu because he wanted his life experiences to inspire and guide younger generations.

The former Vice President also spoke about the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, stating that the state could have achieved greater development had the division taken place before 2014. He attributed the delay to the political circumstances prevailing at the time. Recalling his tenure as a Union Minister, Venkaiah Naidu said he made every effort to ensure Andhra Pradesh received substantial financial assistance and major infrastructure projects after bifurcation, claiming that the state secured support unmatched by many others.

Expressing concern over the present political climate, he urged political leaders to introspect about their conduct and reaffirm their commitment to value-based politics. He said public life should be guided by integrity, discipline and service to society rather than personal or political interests. The book Venkaiah Nayakudu chronicles Venkaiah Naidu’s journey from a humble farming family to becoming a student leader, national political figure and eventually the Vice President of India.
