Jodhaa Akbar marks 17 years with recognition from the Academy, including a special screening in Los Angeles in March 2025
Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic film Jodhaa Akbar marks its 17th anniversary since its release in 2008. The film, a sweeping historical romance, tells the story of Mughal Emperor Akbar’s marriage to Rajput princess Jodhabai, portrayed by Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.
Their on-screen chemistry, combined with Gowariker’s skillful direction, made the film a memorable cinematic experience. The film’s impact was further recognised when Aishwarya Rai’s stunning wedding lehenga from Jodhaa Akbar was showcased in the Colour in
Motion exhibition, organised by renowned costume designer Neeta Lulla at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). This recognition highlights the lasting influence of Jodhaa Akbar on Indian cinema and its artistic achievements. To further honour the film, the Academy will host a special screening of Jodhaa Akbar in Los Angeles in March 2025.
