As part of the Telangana government’s 99-day Praja Palana Pragathi Programme, the Karimnagar Police organized an ‘Arrive Alive’ road safety awareness seminar at Satavahana University on Wednesday.
The programme, held in coordination with the Revenue, Municipal and Transport departments, marked the third day of the ongoing Road Safety Week being observed across the commissionerate from April 13 to 18. Karimnagar Police Commissioner Ghaus Alam attended the event as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner expressed concern that a majority of road accident victims are youth. He stressed the need for adopting defensive driving practices and urged everyone to strictly follow traffic rules to prevent accidents and save lives.
University Vice-Chancellor U. Umesh Kumar stated that the campus has been maintained as a drug-free zone and that a special committee is actively working to prevent ragging. He also noted that speed breakers have been installed across the campus to regulate vehicle movement.
Trainee IPS officer and Kothapalli Station House Officer Soham Sunil, Inspector Billa Koteshwar, and Registrar Satish Kumar were among those present at the programme.
