While inspecting an NTR Housing layout in Ponangi Mandal of Eluru on Tuesday, along with local MLA Badeti Radhakrishna (Chanti), District Collector K. Vetriselvi, and housing officials, the minister interacted with the beneficiaries and addressed their concerns. The beneficiaries requested electricity, drinking water, and drainage facilities in their houses.
The Andhra Pradesh Minister for Housing and Information and Public Relations, Kolusu Parthasarathy informed that out of the 7,035 houses sanctioned in the Ponangi layout, 5,667 beneficiaries have been granted sanction letters, and construction has begun for 875 houses. He instructed the officials to complete the basic amenities in the NTR Housing Layouts on a war footing and ensure that the houses are ready for the housewarming ceremonies of the beneficiaries.
Minister Parthasarathy directed the officials to set up a stock point for sand in the layout within a week to ensure there is no shortage of sand for construction work. He emphasized the need to prioritize the completion of houses where 80% of the construction work has already been completed.
The minister instructed the housing department officials to complete 2,000 houses in the Ponangi layout by March. He also directed the officials to oversee the timely completion of electricity, drinking water, and drainage works in the layouts by the contractors. The minister warned that action would be taken against officials if there were any lapses in supervision.
The minister also stated that the Chief Minister is considering increasing the loan amount for DWACRA women for house construction from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 1 lakh and providing an additional Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 75,000 for SC and ST beneficiaries for house construction. He appealed to the beneficiaries to complete the construction of their houses by December 2026, failing which the house sanction would be canceled.
