kiranmai tutika I AMARAVATI
The die is cast. The long cherished dream of N Chandrababu Naidu came to fruition on Friday as the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi laid foundation stone for 94 projects worth Rs 58,000 Cr for capital city institutions, national highways, railway upgrades and defence-related installations and more.
Of the whole lot, 74 projects worth Rs 49,000 crores encompass the construction of the Assembly, Secretariat and High Court buildings and judicial residential quarters, along with housing buildings for 5,200 families.
Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said that that in the coming years, Amaravati will emerge as a leading city in the sectors of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, green energy, clean industry, education and health. He further added, “The Central government is extending help to the state government in completion of these sectors whatever infrastructure will be needed at record speed.”
Mutual admiration
The bonhomie was palpable as Babu and Modi exchanged pleasantries and praised each other in equal measure. Babu said that there is no politician who understands technology like PM Modi and the Prime Minister said that when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he would always send officials to study Hyderabad’s IT development under Naidu’s leadership. He also added, “Whether it is conceiving ambitious projects or completing them efficiently, Chandrababu Naidu stands unmatched,” Modi said. “There is no leader in India more experienced in completing major infrastructure tasks than him.”
He further said he can say it with experience that be it future technology, working on large-scale projects and implementing them faster, Naidu can do that work excellently. Babu said, said Andhra Pradesh is focusing on AI and Quantum Technology, taking a cue from the PM.
He described the land of Amaravati as sacred, invoking the presence of Goddess Durga and expressing joy at addressing the people from such a spiritually significant place. “I am not just standing on a piece of land,” Modi said, “I am standing on a dream that is about to be real. Amaravati is not merely a city—it is a symbol of the future of Andhra Pradesh and of a developed India.”
Reiterating the potential of Amaravati, Modi said the city will become the nerve center for multiple sectors including IT, Artificial Intelligence, education, healthcare, green energy, and clean industries. He called Amaravati the force that would transform Andhra Pradesh into a technologically advanced and globally competitive state.
Amaravati is not just a city—it is a ‘shakti’, a power that will redefine the identity of Andhra Pradesh. From green industries to education hubs, from AI to clean energy, this city will be a eacon for India’s future.”
New chapter in connectivity
Modi emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is entering a new chapter in connectivity. He highlighted the Naidupeta-Renigunta highway as a key project that will facilitate faster pilgrimages to Tirupati and boost regional mobility. He also outlined the Centre’s heavy investment in rail and road infrastructure, stating that Andhra alone now receives over Rs.9,000 crore in annual railway funding—ten times more than what the undivided Andhra-Telangana region used to get a decade ago.
“From just Rs.900 crore for both Andhra and Telangana, we have now allocated Rs.9,000 crore solely for Andhra Pradesh’s rail projects,” the PM revealed. “We have built 750 new bridges and underpasses, allocated Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains, and are modernizing over 70 railway stations across the state.”
These developments, he said, are not just improving transportation but are creating thousands of jobs, strengthening sectors like cement, steel, and logistics, and boosting the overall economy of the state.
International Yoga Day in AP this year
The Prime Minister announced that this year’s International Day of Yoga (21st June) marking the 10th edition will be celebrated at Andhra Pradesh and he would also attend it.
Prime Minister Modi revealed Chief Minister Naidu’s ambitious target to complete the Amaravati capital project within three years. He said that with this revival, Andhra Pradesh’s path and destiny are about to transform significantly.
“Andhra Pradesh is not just dreaming—it is doing,” Modi said. “This momentum must continue, and with Amaravati’s rebirth, we are witnessing the rise of a new Andhra.”
