Andhra Speaker visits Nelson Mandela's residence in South Africa

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker C Ayyannapatrudu on Saturday visited the residence of Bharat Ratna Nelson Mandela in Soweto, South Africa. On visiting the Nobel laureate's residence, which also houses a museum, the Speaker recalled the valiant revolutionary struggle led by Mandela to end apartheid and liberate the people of South Africa from oppressive rulers, an official release said.

"Ayyannapatrudu, Speaker today visited the residence of Bharat Ratna Nelson Mandela in Soweto, South Africa," it said.

Earlier in the day, Ayyannapatrudu, who is also the chairman of the Committee on Protection of Wildlife and Environment, visited the famous 'Lion and Safari Park' located near Johannesburg in the rainbow nation.

Following a safari and watching different animals spread over huge enclosures, Ayyannapatrudu interacted with the officials of the park to understand how it is managed so well, attracting large numbers of tourists from all over the world.

Recently, the committee visited the zoos located at Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and made some recommendations for attracting more visitors and better managing the facilities in the southern state. The Speaker was accompanied by Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, Secretary-General of Andhra Pradesh Legislature during the visit, the release added.
