BC leaders demand greater political representation

A round-table meeting on the theme “56% BCs… Where is the Political Share?” was held at the Somajiguda Press Club on Saturday, with participants demanding adequate political representation for Backward Classes (BCs), who constitute a majority of the population. The meeting was chaired by retired IAS officer and BC Intellectuals Forum chairman T. Chiranjeevulu. Representatives of NGOs, social organisations, intellectuals, social activists and various BC associations attended the program.

The meeting adopted several resolutions- The three vacant ministerial posts should be immediately allocated to BCs; adequate BC representation should be ensured in the MLC positions expected to fall vacant under the Governor’s quota, priority should be given to BC communities such as Vaddera, Kummari and Nayee Brahmin that have not received adequate representation so far; a unique code should be assigned to every caste in the population census; statewide discussions and awareness programs should be conducted on BC political representation; broad public movement backed by statistical data should be built against the alleged political injustice faced by BCs and that all  BC communities, organizations and intellectuals should unite and work together.
