BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao, on Monday, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government, accusing it of betraying farmers, neglecting welfare commitments and failing to deliver on key development promises.
Addressing a BRS workers' meeting in Achampet, Harish Rao alleged that the government had failed to release ₹29,350 crore in pending Rythu Bharosa assistance and had reduced the promised crop bonus into a "bogus" exercise. He criticized the State government's reported stand that crop procurement would be limited to quantities purchased by the Centre, warning that farmers cultivating crops such as maize, jowar, soybean, groundnut and sunflower would suffer severe losses.
Claiming that farmers were facing mounting difficulties under Congress rule, Harish Rao said procurement centres were unable to handle sprouted paddy and accused the government of abandoning the farming community. He asserted that the BRS would continue fighting for farmers' rights and predicted a clean sweep of all 14 Assembly segments in the undivided Palamuru region, including defeating Revanth Reddy in Kodangal.
The former minister also accused the government of neglecting welfare sectors and infrastructure projects while spending heavily on publicity and other expenditures. He alleged that fee reimbursement payments had been stalled,
adversely affecting students, and charged the government with failing to complete pending irrigation works, including the Palamuru Rangareddy Project and SLBC tunnel works.
Earlier in the day, while travelling to Achampet, Harish Rao stopped at a fertilizer shop in Kadtal and interacted with farmers to understand their grievances. Several farmers complained about difficulties in obtaining urea, alleging that online booking requirements, inadequate stock availability and black market sales were creating hardships. Farmers also raised concerns over erratic power supply, deductions during crop procurement and delays in milk payments.
Harish Rao said these complaints reflected the growing distress among farmers under the present administration. He maintained that the Congress government had failed to address ground level issues affecting agriculture and rural livelihoods. Reiterating the BRS's commitment to farmers and weaker sections, he said the party would continue exposing what it described as the government's failures and mobilize public support across Telangana.
