State Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said on Friday that there is no shortage of fertilizers in the state and assured the farmers that there is no need to panic. Speaking at his camp office, he assured that the state has adequate stock of all types of fertilizers including urea, DAP, potash and complex fertilisers. He also mentioned that district-wise stock of fertilizers is being reviewed daily with the Collectors and Agriculture Department officials and warned that strict action would be taken against dealers and distributors who want to cheat farmers in the name of fertilizer shortage.
Minister Atchannaidu mentioned that 82,054 metric tonnes of urea is available with cooperative institutions, farmer service centers and private traders in the state and another 29,236 MT from various ports and manufacturers is in the process of being transported to the districts.
He further informed that another 1,06,412 MT of urea will reach the state by the end of September through various ports and manufacturing companies. Recognizing the needs of the state, the Centre on Thursday allocated another 24,894 metric tonnes of urea to the state and the urea will reach Visakhapatnam port between 15th and 22nd of this month. On behalf of the people of the state, the Minister thanked the Centre for its cooperation.
