Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has called for transforming APHMEL (Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited), a subsidiary of Singareni Collieries, into a company capable of competing on the global stage.

During his visit to the APHMEL plant at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada, accompanied by Singareni CMD Balram, Bhatti interacted with workers and reviewed operations. He asserted that APHMEL possesses world-class machinery and skilled human resources, but success depends on commitment, a competitive mindset, and effective use of existing systems.

The Deputy Chief Minister announced that a consultancy will soon be appointed to assess local conditions and recommend strategies for the company’s growth. He emphasised that improved performance would boost profits, create more jobs for local youth, and aid state development.

Bhatti instructed that the plant and machinery be kept clean, overhauled, and painted, and that strict safety measures be followed. He urged the workforce to strive for high productivity and ambition, noting that the company should expand beyond Singareni’s needs to take orders from across India, similar to BHEL.

Highlighting APHMEL’s role in manufacturing and repairing equipment for thermal power stations, Bhatti said the government is exploring future development plans to make it a competitive national and international player.
