Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s education reforms have earned international recognition, with Nobel laureate and University of Chicago professor Michael Kremer praising the state’s Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL) initiative.
In a meeting with Education Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday, Prof. Kremer cited a University of Chicago study showing that students using PAL achieved 2.25 times higher learning progress in just 17 months compared to those without the programme. The impact, Prof. Kremer noted, was particularly strong among younger students, with data-backed improvements observed across all grades.
“Andhra Pradesh is leading the nation in deploying personalised learning tools, and is setting an example for other states to follow,” Prof. Kremer said. He added that Gujarat’s Samagra Shiksha team, after studying PAL implementation in AP, is preparing to introduce it in their schools as well.
Launched in 2018 across 60 schools, PAL now covers 1,224 schools in 26 districts, reaching 3.25 lakh students. Implemented with the support of the Central Square Foundation and ConveGenius Technologies, the initiative positions Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in EdTech innovation.
Minister Lokesh said the state’s focus is not just on expanding access to education, but on improving quality and learning outcomes through innovation. “Andhra Pradesh is committed to ensuring that every child learns at their own pace and potential. PAL is a crucial step in this direction,” he noted.
