Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed sharp displeasure over the installation of barricades inside the Velagapudi Secretariat premises, questioning officials on the necessity and intent behind the obstruction.
During his arrival at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister noticed police placing large barricades, some carrying commercial advertisements, on both sides of the main approach road, effectively restricting the movement of vehicles and visitors. Visibly annoyed, he immediately confronted officials, asking, “Is this a state secretariat or a commercial complex?”
Officials scrambled to respond as the Chief Minister pointed out that such barricades were causing inconvenience to the public visiting the Secretariat. He instructed them to remove all barriers without delay.
Later, during a review meeting of the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS), Chandrababu again raised the issue, reiterating that police should focus on regulating traffic rather than blocking entire roads. He remarked that the arrangements made in villages he recently visited for pension distribution were far better than those at the state’s highest administrative office.
Emphasising that the Secretariat should offer a pleasant, welcoming experience to citizens, the Chief Minister directed officials to overhaul the entry management system and ensure that visitors are not inconvenienced under any circumstances.
Following his stern instructions, officials acted swiftly and removed all barricades within the Secretariat campus. In their place, they would install decorative flower pots to enhance the visual appeal of the premises.
