Telangana Congress Vice President Dr Kota Neelima stated that Telangana has declared drought in 365 mandals across 31 districts but Union Home Minister Amit Shah offered no Central assistance on his recent visit to Hyderabad and termed it as ‘arrogance of the BJP towards common people of Telangana.’  She mentioned that the state government is addressing widespread distress due to crop losses and shortages of food and drinking water. Dr Neelima alleged that Amit Shah spoke about communal issuant ant termed it as Amit Shah’s ‘let them eat cake moment.

Further she added that Hindu-Muslim politics cannot address a drought. Farmers need relief, agricultural labourers need employment and families need protection from its economic consequences, she said.  Dr Neelima said that Telangana has two Union Ministers, G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar and demanded that they must explain what they have done to secure the Rs 30,000 crores drought assistance which the state government sought.
