BRS, BJP misleading people: MLA Bhupathi Reddy

Nizamabad Rural MLA Dr R. Bhupathi Reddy on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BRS and BJP, accusing both parties of misleading people on irrigation issues and indulging in "politics of theft." He alleged that the two parties were behaving like "a thief calling another thief." Addressing a press conference at the District Congress office along with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Government Adviser Sudarshan Reddy, the MLA criticised opposition leaders for making what he termed baseless allegations against the Congress government.

Bhupathi Reddy said leaders who had earlier served as ministers for key portfolios such as irrigation and information technology were now making statements without proper understanding of facts and attempting to create confusion among the public. He alleged that the previous BRS government had prioritised commissions over proper planning and execution of irrigation projects, leading to the present crisis.

Targeting the BJP, the MLA accused the party of engaging in "vote theft and seat theft" politics and undermining democratic values. He said personal abuse was not part of the Congress culture, adding that while Congress leaders were capable of responding in the same language, the party believed in maintaining political dignity.

He also stressed that dam safety should not be compromised for political gains. Ignoring the recommendations of the Dam Safety Authority and exerting pressure for water releases would endanger public safety, he said. Political leaders should rely on expert advice instead of making irresponsible statements on sensitive issues, he added. The MLA asserted that the Congress government remained committed to transparent governance, public welfare and development, and said people would reject what he described as false propaganda by the opposition.
