In a stern message to his party legislators, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the issue of notices to 48 MLAs who failed to attend key welfare distribution programmes, including the pension disbursement and CM Relief Fund (CMRF) cheque distribution events held across the state.

During a high-level meeting with the TDP back-office team at NTR Bhavan, Chandrababu expressed serious displeasure over the absence of several MLAs from government welfare activities meant to serve the poor. He directed the programme committee to issue immediate notices and seek explanations from the erring members, warning that disciplinary action would follow if satisfactory responses were not provided.

“The ministers and MLAs must be on the ground, among the people, delivering welfare benefits directly,” the Chief Minister asserted. “Public representatives cannot distance themselves from the programmes that reflect the government’s commitment to the poor,” he said, emphasizing that serving the underprivileged is a collective responsibility, not a choice.

Chandrababu also instructed that legislators must actively participate in insurance enrolment drives and CMRF cheque distributions for party workers. He cautioned against selective favoritism, insisting that sincere and hardworking cadres be recognized instead of personal loyalists.

Directing strict monitoring from the party headquarters, the Chief Minister ordered staff to immediately report any MLA who skips official events to his office. He further stressed the need to educate people about the state’s fiscal challenges, urging leaders to act as communicators between the government and the public.

Expressing anger at what he described as “unacceptable negligence,” Chandrababu warned that no leniency would be shown toward legislators who ignore field duties. “Government programmes succeed only when representatives are visible, active, and accountable,” he said. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, TDP headquarters has begun preparations to serve formal notices to all 48 absent MLAs.
