The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conducted a comprehensive video conference with district collectors on Monday evening, issuing a series of crucial directives to strengthen monsoon preparedness, streamline administrative functions, and roll out key welfare initiatives across Telangana.
Despite a 21% rainfall deficit between June and mid-July, the state has witnessed significant rainfall over the past three days. The Chief Minister called for heightened vigilance and directed all departments to stay on high alert to manage rain-related challenges effectively. In Hyderabad, 150 teams have been deployed with support from a command control room to facilitate timely interventions based on weather forecasts. Senior police officials have been instructed to stay on-ground to ensure smooth traffic movement and prevent waterlogging.
In light of recent fatalities caused by lightning, CM ordered immediate registration of FIRs and mandated compensation to the affected families. District collectors were directed to document all such incidents. Additionally, early warnings must be issued to the public regarding heavy rainfall and lightning activity to prevent casualties.
On the health front, the Chief Minister stressed the need for stocking viral fever medication and strengthening healthcare services, especially in tribal areas. ITDA officials have been instructed to implement preventive health measures, and doctors in PHCs and government hospitals are to remain available round-the-clock. The veterinary department must also remain alert to address any issues affecting livestock.
Reinforcing the importance of accountability, Revanth Reddy instructed collectors to undertake regular field visits and surprise inspections, warning of zero tolerance toward negligence. Daily performance reports are to be submitted to the Chief Secretary, and IAS officers must ensure on-ground supervision during emergencies.
Highlighting Telangana's leading position in agriculture, the Chief Minister noted that the state produced 2.85 crore metric tonnes of paddy, the highest in the country. He emphasized the need for efficient water management in line with rainfall patterns and urged transparency in fertilizer distribution.
Officials have been instructed to publicly display fertilizer stock details at shops and keep the information updated online. Strict action will be taken against those misusing urea or spreading false rumors about fertilizer shortages. A dedicated help desk is also to be set up for addressing farmer grievances.
A major announcement was made regarding the distribution of ration cards. From July 25 to August 10, a statewide drive will be conducted at all mandal centers. MLAs, district in-charge ministers, collectors, and additional collectors will oversee the distribution under the coordination of district collectors. CM Revanth clarified that ration card issuance is a continuous process and urged citizens not to worry if they miss this round. Currently, Telangana has over 96.9 lakh ration cards, benefiting more than 3.1 crore citizens through the supply of fine rice—a benefit the Chief Minister termed unmatched nationally.
Revanth Reddy emphasised on the government’s commitment to public welfare, proactive governance, and strict accountability, particularly in addressing the challenges of the monsoon season and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery across Telangana.
During the video conference held from the Secretariat, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was joined by several key ministers and senior officials. Cabinet ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Vivek Venkataswamy, Vakiti Srihari, and Seethakka were present, along with CM’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy and top bureaucrats. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka participated from Kothagudem, while Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao joined from Khammam.
