Complex oral cancer surgery performed at Medicover

Doctors at Medicover Cancer Institute successfully performed a complex cancer surgery on 65-year-old Kamalamma, who was suffering from oral cancer. Kamalamma was diagnosed with oral cancer that had affected her jawbone, requiring surgical removal of the impacted portion. Due to her age and fear of undergoing surgery, she was initially hesitant to proceed with treatment. However, with proper reassurance from the medical team, she agreed to undergo the procedure.

The surgery was successfully performed under the leadership of Dr. Ajay Varun Reddy, Senior Robotic Surgical Oncologist, with the support of Dr. Prajyoth Reddy, Reconstructive Surgeon. During the procedure, the cancer-affected portion was removed and the oral structure was reconstructed using tissue harvested from the patient's leg. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ajay Varun Reddy said that with advanced medical technology and the support of multidisciplinary medical teams, even highly complex cancer treatments can now be successfully performed in elderly patients.
