Senior Congress leader V.V.S.N. Chowdary has made sensational allegations that a powerful “shadow leader” within his own party is masterminding a land grab operation with the support of local police and officials. Chowdary claimed that despite having a court injunction in his favour, his property in Shamshiguda village, Kukatpally mandal, measuring 25 guntas in Survey No. 39, is being illegally encroached upon by D. Srinivas and his family members.
According to Chowdary, he purchased the land through a registered sale deed in 2005 and built a boundary wall. However, since 2016, Srinivas’s family allegedly forged documents, falsely claiming 338.4 square yards of it to be village land. Following a detailed trial, the court in 2019 ruled that the disputed portion had no connection with Chowdary’s land and issued a temporary injunction (I.A. No. 1360/2019) restraining the accused from entering the property.
Despite the injunction, Chowdary said the accused demolished his boundary wall, constructed an illegal room, and managed to get municipal, water, and power connections through false representations. He filed a complaint at the Kukatpally Police Station in 2019, but police allegedly delayed the chargesheet for years, acting only after he approached the High Court. Even now, Chowdary says, the threats to his life persist.
He accused the local police of acting as allies of the land grabbers, citing reasons like officers being “on leave” or “preparing for exams” to avoid taking action. Multiple visits to the ACP and DCP offices went in vain, and instead of punishing the culprits, the police filed a false counter-case against him—without even serving a 41A notice. Chowdary alleged that a “shadow leader” within the Congress has become a parallel power centre, controlling all “settlements and deals,” while Cyberabad Police operate under his influence. “If court orders mean nothing before political power, what hope remains for ordinary citizens?” he questioned.
He appealed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to intervene immediately, act against the “police–land mafia nexus,” and ensure justice and protection for his family and property.
