BRS to hold Warangal Meet on May 6

Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday accused the Congress government of betraying the farming community in every possible way and failing to fulfill promises made under the Farmer Declaration announced in Warangal. To remind people of what he termed as Congress’ “deception,” the BRS will organize a major farmers’ meeting in Warangal on May 6.
Leaders from the undivided Warangal district invited KTR to attend the meeting, and he confirmed his participation. The date was chosen as it marks the anniversary of the Farmer Declaration announced by Congress leaders in Warangal in 2022.
KTR alleged that despite being in power for over two and a half years, the Congress government had not implemented even a single major promise made to farmers.
He claimed the agriculture sector was facing multiple challenges, including fertilizer shortages, seed supply issues, procurement delays, and power cuts. He also said that farmer distress had increased significantly under the current administration.
During the meeting with district leaders, KTR reviewed plans to strengthen the party in the Warangal region. Discussions focused on membership drives, committee formation, and strategies for upcoming Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation elections.
He also instructed party cadres to closely monitor the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision process, ensure no fake votes are added, and help eligible new voters get registered without losing their voting rights.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, district leaders said the May 6 gathering would be a platform to question the Congress government over its unfulfilled commitments to farmers. They alleged that procurement centers lacked gunny bags, transportation support, and proper planning, causing severe hardships to farmers, especially maize growers.
The leaders said BRS would continue visiting procurement centers across the district to support farmers and intensify pressure on the government. They described the upcoming Warangal meeting as a protest against what they called anti-farmer governance and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to standing with the farming community.
