Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has directed officials to expedite the data integration process at the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) to enhance service delivery for the public. During a review meeting at the RTGS headquarters on Monday, he assessed the progress of the Data Lake initiative, which aims to consolidate information from various government departments into a unified platform.
Vijayanand emphasized the need to fast-track data collection from all government departments, urging senior officials to ensure swift submission of pending data. He instructed that the integration of departments with the Data Lake should align with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of providing efficient and transparent governance to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Secretary urged officials to ensure that the WhatsApp governance platform reaches a larger number of users, making it easier for citizens to access government services without physical visits. Special attention should be given to increasing awareness and adoption of WhatsApp Governance, ensuring that people across the state benefit from seamless digital interactions. To enhance accessibility, a voice-based service is being developed, allowing users to avail themselves of government services via voice messages, eliminating the need for text-based interactions. Vijayanand directed that this facility should be implemented at the earliest possible time.
Recognizing the role of technology in efficient administration, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to improve the e-file clearance process within government departments. Enhancing digital workflows will streamline operations and increase productivity across various administrative sectors.
Bhaskar Katamneni, Secretary of IT and Real-Time Governance, provided an update on the WhatsApp Governance system, highlighting its integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve service delivery. He explained that the AI-powered system, currently in its pilot phase, will enable citizens to request services via voice commands, automatically directing them to the required department for faster resolution.
He assured that the system would soon be rolled out to the public, making government interactions more user-friendly and efficient. The state is also accelerating the data integration process, with each government department appointing a Chief Data Technical Officer (CDTO) to oversee the seamless connection of departmental information with the Data Lake.
In a significant development, the government is setting up a dedicated weather forecasting and early warning research center (AWARE – Andhra Pradesh Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Hub) within RTGS. This initiative will provide real-time weather updates to farmers and rural communities, helping them make informed agricultural decisions. The center is expected to become fully operational in the near future.
