Revanth hands over appointment letters to GPOs; calls for restoring dignity to revenue system
metro india news I hyderabad
The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy handed over appointment letters to newly recruited Grama Palana Officers (GPOs) at the “Koluvula Panduga” organised at HITEX, Hyderabad. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the previous BRS regime attempted to malign and dismantle the revenue administration by portraying its employees as culprits while allowing land irregularities through Dharani.
“History shows that Telangana’s struggles were always linked to land rights. From Komaram Bheem to Chakali Ailamma and Ravi Narayana Reddy, the fight was for land. Even the Bhoodan movement had its roots here when Vedire Ramachandra Reddy distributed thousands of acres to the poor. Former PM P.V. Narasimha Rao introduced the Agricultural Ceiling Act to distribute land to the needy,” CM said.
Reiterating that the Congress government stood by farmers and staff, CM Revanth Reddy said Dharani was like a “virus” imposed on Telangana. “We had promised to throw Dharani into the Bay of Bengal. Today we have replaced it with Bhu Bharati, a law that secures farmers’ rights and restores public confidence,” he said.
Appealing to revenue employees to work as a bridge between the government and the poor, the CM said: “This is your opportunity to erase the stigma unfairly cast upon you and prove your integrity to society by resolving long-pending land issues, including Sada Bainamas.”
The CM also pointed out the monumental failures of the BRS government, including the collapse of the Kaleshwaram project within three years despite spending ₹1 lakh crore, and said that his government is determined to bring transparency and accountability in governance.
Teachers’ Day Celebrations: CM vows education reforms At the Teachers’ Day programme held at Shilpakala Vedika, CM Revanth Reddy appealed to teachers to join the government in rebuilding Telangana. He emphasised that the education sector was completely ruined under BRS rule with no recruitment and poor facilities. The CM said he retained the Education portfolio to drive reforms, announcing a New Education Policy soon.
He praised teachers for their role in the Telangana movement and asked them to protect students from drugs, encourage sports, and ensure quality education in government schools. He highlighted government initiatives like Young India Residential Schools, Skills University, and Amma Adarsha Schools to uplift the sector.
