‘District athletes excelling at national and international levels’

Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said on Wednesday that Mulugu district is steadily establishing itself as a prominent force in the field of sports, with local athletes excelling at national and international levels. The Minister made these remarks while participating in the grand celebration of Olympic Day Run 2026, organized jointly by the International Olympic Committee, the Indian Olympic Association, and the Telangana Olympic Association at the Government High School Grounds in Mulugu. 

Seethakka attended the event as the Chief Guest along with District Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadeo Rao. She emphasized that the state government remains fully committed to encouraging and supporting sportspersons and has sanctioned Rs 4 crore for the construction of an athletics stadium in the district. Minister Seethakka stated that although Mulugu is considered a remote district, it has consistently demonstrated remarkable sporting talent and earned recognition at state, national, and international levels. 

She noted that Mulugu athletes have a track record of excelling in sports such as volleyball and archery, winning medals and accolades at national competitions. She also appreciated the growing interest of students in cricket and other sports disciplines. The Minister encouraged students to maintain physical fitness and pursue their chosen sports with dedication and focus.
