The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 12.60 crore for constructing permanent buildings at the Government Degree College in Eluru. The issue was raised by students with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan during his Janavani programme and Varahi Yatra when he was in the Opposition. Students had highlighted the lack of classrooms and basic facilities, with some classes being held under trees.

Pawan Kalyan had assured them that the issue would be resolved if the alliance came to power. After the coalition government assumed office, the proposal was pursued with the Education Department, leading to the sanction. The new infrastructure is expected to improve learning conditions. Pawan Kalyan thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh for approving the funds.
