Free cancer screening camp draws strong response

Around 150 people underwent cancer screening at the camp. A free cancer screening camp conducted at Medicover Hospital in Yellammagutta, Nizamabad, on Tuesday received an encouraging response from the public. The camp was organised by Medicover Cancer Institute, Hyderabad, with the aim of detecting cancer at an early stage and enabling timely treatment.

Free PSA tests were offered to men, while women were provided mammograms and Pap smear tests, along with medical consultations. Doctors also offered guidance to people with cancer-related symptoms or concerns.

Senior Surgical Oncologist Dr Ravi Chander said early detection significantly improves cancer treatment outcomes. He stressed the importance of regular screening based on age, family history and other risk factors, even among people who feel healthy.

Radiation Oncologist Dr Anvesh urged women to undergo periodic screening for breast and cervical cancers. He also advised men to be aware of prostate cancer risks and undergo PSA testing when necessary.

Medical Oncologist Dr Varsha said such camps aim to increase cancer awareness and highlight the importance of early detection. Hyderabad Cancer Institute Marketing Manager Dinesh also participated in the press interaction.
