Metro India News | Hyderabad

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy will visit Australia from October 25 to 30 to strengthen bilateral cooperation in mining, critical minerals, advanced technologies and mineral processing.

During the six-day visit, Reddy will hold discussions with Australian government representatives, mining companies, research institutions and industry leaders in Sydney and Melbourne. The talks will focus on securing critical mineral supplies for India’s growing industrial and clean energy needs, attracting investments in domestic mining projects, promoting joint research and advancing exploration, technology transfer and skill development.

The minister will arrive in Sydney on October 25 and inaugurate the Sydney office of NMDC on October 26, followed by a review of the company’s activities. He will also participate in the International Mining and Resources Conference and Expo (IMARC) 2026 and deliver a keynote address on global opportunities.

On October 27, Reddy is scheduled to meet Australian Resources and Northern Australia Minister Madeleine King and inaugurate the India Pavilion at IMARC. He will also interact with major Australian mining company Bravus and a mining delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

On October 28, he will participate in a round table meeting on critical minerals and rare earths with the Minerals Council of Australia. Australian Minister of State for Resources Anthony Chisholm is also expected to attend.

The visit aims to deepen engagement with Australia, which has significant mineral resources and advanced mining capabilities, and expand opportunities for India across the mineral value chain, from exploration and extraction to the production of value-added materials.
