As per the instructions of the GHMC Commissioner issued on Friday, the Food Safety Officers, GHMC are conducting surprise inspections on bakeries numbering not less than 5 in each of their circle area. So far 57 Bakeries have been inspected by the Food Safety Officers and the drive is being continued. During the inspections 32 samples were taken and sent to the State Food Laboratory, Nacharam for analysis purpose.

The Food Business Operators are being informed to maintain the hygiene standards in preparation of the food items, sale of food items and also the kitchen premises to be maintained properly. Proper labeling i.e. date of preparation and life shelf of the food item of the food items kept in the display counters shall be done. On finding violation of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and Rules & Regulations, 2011 notices are being issued for rectification of defects and in case of any major violation, adjudication will be filed before the Adjudication Officers concerned.
