In a major road safety initiative following recent heavy rains, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has repaired 11,159 out of 13,790 identified potholes across the city. The ongoing special drive, aimed at ensuring smooth traffic during the upcoming Ganesh idol immersions, covers arterial roads, internal stretches, and parts of national highways within GHMC limits.
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has directed officials to expedite the remaining repair work to avoid traffic disruptions during the festive season. In addition to pothole repairs, the civic body has restored 549 catch pits, replaced 313 manhole covers, and carried out 12 median repairs, further strengthening the city's road infrastructure for safer and more efficient commuting.
