Gurunanak CARE Hospitals leads Diabetes Awareness Walk

Gurunanak CARE Hospitals commemorated World Diabetes Day by organizing a Diabetes Awareness Walk to promote early detection, lifestyle changes, and preventive care. The walk started from the hospital, reached RTC Cross Road, and returned to the premises, drawing enthusiastic participation from senior doctors, hospital staff, and local residents.

The walk was led by Dr. K S Mionuddin, Senior Consultant, General Medicine, alongside Dr. G Surya Prakash, Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Regional Clinical Director, Dr. Srinivas Kandula, Senior Endocrinologist. Dr. Mionuddin highlighted the importance of early screening, healthy diet, regular exercise, and proper sleep, stressing that diabetes affects not only sugar levels but also the heart, kidneys, nerves, and eyes.

Dr. Kandula added that early detection can prevent up to 70% of long-term complications. Dr. Jetti emphasized community collaboration for preventive healthcare. The event concluded with an awareness session at the hospital, reinforcing routine check-ups and timely management to reduce diabetes-related risks.
