Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy has written to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, urging immediate release of Rs 361.35 crore in pending bills for works completed under the ‘Mana Ooru – Mana Badi’ programme.
In his letter, Gutta stated that several small contractors and Amma Adarsha Pathashala Committees, who executed civil works under the scheme, are facing severe financial hardship due to non-payment. Many had borrowed money to complete the projects, and the delay in bill clearance has left them struggling.
He noted that the civil works across the state have been fully completed and certified by concerned engineering officials. However, the payments for these works remain pending for a long time, causing distress among contractors and committee members.
Gutta stressed that small and economically weak contractors, along with parents’ committees, have been approaching him to highlight their plight. He appealed to the CM to take immediate action and prioritise clearing the Rs 361.35 crore dues to provide relief to those affected.
The ‘Mana Ooru – Mana Badi’ programme aims to improve infrastructure in government schools. Gutta emphasised that timely payment would not only support contractors but also ensure trust in government-initiated development projects. He requested the CM to treat the matter with urgency in view of the difficulties faced by those who worked for the scheme’s success.
