HMWSSB MD inspects sewerage issues

HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy on Wednesday inspected sewerage issues in Venkata Giri, Krishnanagar, and Srinagar colonies under Jubilee Hills. Officials informed him that decades-old pipelines and clogged outlets were causing frequent overflows and water stagnation during rains.

The MD ordered expedited de-silting for temporary relief and directed reconstruction of manholes, preparation of a sewerage master plan, and laying of separate pipelines to prevent sewage from entering stormwater drains. He stressed coordination with GHMC for effective resolution.

During his visit to Krishnanagar Colony and Labour Adda, Ashok Reddy suggested short-term measures and asked for proposals on permanent solutions. He also spotted damaged drinking water valve chambers on roads and ordered immediate repairs to prevent contamination, warning of strict action if polluted water enters supply lines.

He further instructed conversion of unused hand pumps into injection borewells under a special drive. Senior officials, including CGM Prabhu and GM, accompanied him. Fines for water wastage in Banjara Hills

While passing through Road No.12, Banjara Hills, the MD noticed water leakage. On investigation, one individual was found using drinking water to wash his car and bike, for which a Rs. 10,000 fine was imposed.In another case, a sump overflow led to nearly 1 km of water wastage, and the property owner was fined Rs. 5,000.Ashok Reddy warned of strict penalties for misuse of potable water and urged citizens to use it only for essential needs.
