Twenty years after the people of Midjil handed him his first electoral victory, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to return to the constituency where his political journey began—not to seek votes, but to say thank you.

On July 4, Revanth Reddy will hold a special thanksgiving meeting in Midjil, marking two decades in public life and expressing gratitude to the people who gave him his first mandate as a ZPTC member in 2006. The visit is being described by his associates as one of the most emotional moments of his political career.

For the Chief Minister, Midjil is more than a constituency. It is the place where his public life took shape. Close associates say he often recalls the Urukonda temple where he prayed, the school that shaped his early years and the people who placed their faith in a young leader beginning his political journey. He believes that debt can never truly be repaid.

The day's programme will begin with prayers at the Urukonda temple, followed by the foundation stone laying for temple development works. Revanth Reddy will then join a community lunch with early political associates, local elders, party workers and supporters who stood by him during his formative years.

He will also unveil statues of veteran leader Gopal Reddy and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar before addressing a public meeting expected to draw large crowds from the region.

Revanth Reddy's rise has been one of steady political progression. After winning as an Independent ZPTC member in 2006 and an Independent MLC in 2007, he joined the Telugu Desam Party and won two Assembly elections from Kodangal. He later moved to the Congress, won the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat, became TPCC president, led the party to victory in the 2023 Assembly elections and took oath as Telangana Chief Minister on December 7, 2023.
