Telangana siblings Shriya Murali and Rakshith Murali have once again made the nation proud by winning nine medals for India at the 19th & 20th Asian Roller-Skating Championship and the Oceania Pacific Cup. At the 20th Asian Championship held in Jecheon, South Korea, Shriya clinched gold in the Show Group event, silver in the Quartet, and bronze in the Couple event. Rakshith also struck gold in the Show Group category.
Shriya is a third-year CSE student at VNR VJIET, while Rakshith studies in Class 11 at Gowtham Junior College, Trimulgherry. Their skating journey began in childhood under the guidance of Yama Skating Academy coaches, including Arjuna awardee Anup Kumar Yama. Together, the duo has amassed an incredible 188 medals — 100 gold, 67 silver, and 21 bronze — across district, state, national, and international competitions.
Their success comes from relentless discipline, including 4 a.m. practices, school, and evening training, often studying during travel. They underwent three intensive camps and rigorous selection trials to qualify for the international stage. With continued support from their parents and institutions, Shriya and Rakshith aim to scale greater heights. Their journey stands as an inspiring testament to passion, perseverance, and national pride.
