India must not yield to Trump administration: AIMIM chief Owaisi

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday asserted that the Narendra Modi-led NDA government should not bow down to the influence of US President Donald Trump's administration.

Owaisi's comments came in response to the Trump administration's decision to raise the H-1B visa fee to $100,000. He highlighted that this move would significantly impact Indians, who make up approximately 71% of H-1B visa holders, with many of them hailing from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

‘I am not trying to play politics here, but the Modi government must reflect on the fact that Pakistan's military chief recently dined with Trump, while our neighbor also secured a trade agreement with the US. What’s happening with these developments?’ Owaisi questioned.

He warned that if such issues aren’t addressed, future generations may suffer. ‘We must not yield to Trump's government under any circumstances,’ the Hyderabad MP said. Owaisi also questioned the effectiveness of events like ‘Howdy Modi’ and other pro-Trump gatherings, asking what tangible outcomes India had gained from them. The AIMIM leader emphasized the need for India to pursue trade agreements in rupees, in line with global efforts toward de-dollarization.
