Government-owned land worth an estimated Rs 3 crore has allegedly been encroached upon in Sandayya Nagar Colony of Serilingampally Mandal, raising serious concerns over the protection of public assets and the alleged negligence of multiple government departments. According to local allegations, the 200-square-yard plot has remained recorded as government land for the past 25 years. Despite this, the property was allegedly registered using forged documents, following which construction activities reportedly began on the site.

Residents have questioned the apparent inaction of the revenue, municipal, and registration departments, alleging that the failure to prevent the encroachment points to serious administrative lapses. Earlier field inspections conducted by Revenue officials reportedly concluded that the land, located within Survey Nos. 322 to 328 in Sandayya Nagar Colony, belongs entirely to the government. Officials are said to have submitted reports to higher authorities clearly stating that no individual holds any private ownership rights over the property.

However, residents claim that while the reports remained on record, no concrete measures were taken to safeguard the land. Locals further allege that authorities failed to erect signboards identifying the property as government land or install fencing to prevent encroachment. They claim that this lack of protection created an opportunity for unscrupulous individuals to fabricate ownership documents and secure registration of the property. According to the allegations, the registration was processed under PTIN No. 1120017663 and Document No. 5552/2025.

The Sandayya Nagar Welfare Association said it has been requesting for several years that the land be reserved for public purposes, such as the construction of a community hall or the development of a public park. Association representatives expressed concern that a valuable public asset intended to benefit the community is now allegedly being transferred into private hands. The association has urged the government to immediately order a high-level inquiry into the alleged land encroachment, cancel any illegal registrations, and restore possession of the property to the government. It also demanded strict action against any officials or individuals found responsible.
