BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government during a party workers' meeting in Paleru, accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and ministers from Khammam district of presiding over what he described as an era of corruption, misgovernance, and broken promises.
KTR reserved some of his sharpest criticism for Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, alleging large scale corruption, illegal land dealings, and abuse of power. In a stinging remark, KTR said the minister had amassed such enormous wealth that "even note counting machines would grow tired counting the currency accumulated through his corruption." He questioned why investigations and raids conducted against Ponguleti in the past had not resulted in any significant action and demanded answers from both the Congress and BJP.
The BRS leader further accused Ponguleti of misusing the state's land administration system to facilitate settlements and land grabs. He also alleged illegal mining activities and claimed that the minister was operating with unprecedented arrogance, both within the government and in public life.
Taking direct aim at Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, KTR alleged that while Telangana's economy was weakening and government revenues were declining, the personal fortunes of key Congress leaders were growing rapidly. He claimed that even as the state's financial condition deteriorated, "commission businesses" involving senior ministers continued unabated.
"Khammam is not being represented by three ministers but by three fraudsters," alleging that the district's leadership had become synonymous with corruption and self enrichment. He claimed that under their stewardship, Khammam was being pushed toward decline instead of development.
KTR also renewed his attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of pursuing a politics of destruction rather than governance. He questioned the government's failure to deliver on major promises related to housing, farmer welfare, unemployment assistance, pensions, and social welfare schemes despite allegedly raising nearly Rs. 4 lakh crore in borrowings.
