Marking the second anniversary of the arrest of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Minister and TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh shared an emotional message on social media on Tuesday.

“Two years ago, on this very day, my father was unjustly arrested. That incident stands not only as a painful memory for our family but also as a dark chapter in the history of democracy,” Lokesh wrote in his post.

Reflecting on the ordeal, he said the anguish of that moment still lingers. However, he noted that the experience had only strengthened the family’s and the party’s resolve. “The pain remains, but our determination has only grown stronger. My father’s courage, dignity, and unwavering faith in the people of Andhra Pradesh continue to inspire us in our fight for justice and truth,” he said.

Lokesh’s remarks come at a politically significant time, as the Telugu Desam Party seeks to consolidate its base and project Chandrababu’s arrest under the previous regime as an example of political vendetta. The emotional tone of his message is being seen as both a personal tribute and a call to party cadres to stay motivated in their ongoing political battle.

Naidu’s arrest two years ago, which drew widespread attention, had sparked sharp criticism from TDP leaders, who described it as a targeted move aimed at silencing dissent. With Lokesh now recalling the episode publicly, the TDP is expected to renew its narrative around that event as part of its broader political campaign.
