As part of National Nutrition Week, observed across the country from September 1 to 7, Medicover Hospitals in Nizamabad organised a special awareness program to highlight the importance of nutrition and healthy eating habits among the public. General Medicine Consultant Dr. Anand Malu and dietician Srilakha participated in the program and shared several health tips and precautions.
Dr. Anand Malu said nutritional deficiencies and unhealthy dietary habits were among the major factors contributing to the rise of lifestyle-related diseases. Dr. Malu recommended that individuals undergo blood tests at least once a year to check their Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, iron and haemoglobin levels. Dietician Srilakha explained that nutritious food does not necessarily have to be expensive and that people could achieve good health by consuming naturally available, locally sourced foods.
She also recommended incorporating millets such as jowar, ragi and bajra into regular meals, noting that they can help in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Medicover Hospitals Centre Head Swamy said that a special nutrition counselling help desk had been made available at the hospital during National Nutrition Week.
