Devarakadra MLA G. Madhusudhan Reddy (GMR) participated in a fish seed release programme at the Koil Sagar Project in Devarakadra constituency on Wednesday, along with State Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Youth Services Vakiti Srihari and the District Collector.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA GMR said that the previous government had completely neglected the Fisheries Department, while the Congress people’s government under Minister Vakiti Srihari has revitalized it with renewed focus on fishermen’s welfare. He mentioned that 2.5 lakh fish seedlings of 82 mm size were released during the programme and said the government is committed to ensuring the economic upliftment of fishermen families.
The MLA also appealed to the minister to sanction mini stadiums in all mandal headquarters of Devarakadra constituency, establish fish markets in the three municipal towns, construct Mudiraj community buildings in mandal centers, approve new veterinary hospitals, and ensure proper supply of medicines for animal treatment.
Minister Vakiti Srihari responded positively, appreciating MLA GMR’s dedication to his constituency’s development. He assured that equal priority will be given to both Makthal and Devarakadra constituencies. The minister added that the Congress government is distributing 88 crore fish seedlings and 10 crore prawn seedlings across 26,000 tanks in Telangana, completely free of cost.
