As part of the Telangana State Government’s 99-day “Praja Palana Pragati Pranalika” Plan, the Telangana Tourism Department has launched special training programs to develop the tourism sector. A dedicated training program for Giri Darshak (Hill Guides) was organized in Mulugu district to prepare local youth as tourist guides at various attractions in the region. Mulugu District Superintendent of Police Sudhir Ramnath Khekan formally inaugurated the training program.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Sudhir Ramnath Khekan said that Mulugu district is blessed with several important tourist and historical destinations such as Ramappa, Medaram, Laknavaram, Malluru and Bogatha Waterfall. He urged the selected young guides to explain the significance of these places to visitors, work towards positioning Mulugu as a leading tourism destination in the state, and provide excellent service to tourists to earn their appreciation.
During the training sessions, Joint District Tourism Officer M. Shivaji and senior Ramappa Tourism Guide Gorantla Vijay Kumar provided detailed information about prominent tourist spots in Mulugu district, their historical importance, key facts to be shared with visitors and the proper code of conduct to be followed while guiding tourists. The trainees were also guided on effectively communicating local culture, traditions and natural beauty to visitors.
The Mulugu District SP also inaugurated a Mobile Museum set up by the Telangana Tourism Department at the SP Office premises. The museum showcases photographs, special attractions, and interesting details of major tourist destinations across Telangana. Brochures and informational booklets are also being made available for visitors. District Tourism Officer M. Shivaji stated that the Mobile Museum was established with the objective of creating greater awareness among the public about Telangana’s tourism destinations and further promoting the tourism sector.
