Bringing major relief to thousands of patients across Andhra Pradesh, the NTR health services which had been suspended for several days by private network specialty hospitals have now resumed. The breakthrough came after successful talks between the State Government and hospital managements, ending a tense standoff over pending dues.
Private hospitals affiliated with the NTR Health Scheme had halted services earlier this month, citing non-payment of bills pending for months. The suspension hit poor and middle-class patients the hardest, as they rely heavily on these cashless health services for treatment. With many struggling to access timely medical care, pressure mounted on the government to intervene.
Following intense discussions, the State Government assured the hospital management that their financial concerns would be addressed promptly. Officials confirmed that ₹670 crore currently pending in the Comprehensive Financial Management System (CFMS) will be released within ten days, and the remaining dues will be cleared within the next fifteen days.
Minister Satya Kumar, who led the talks with officials and hospital representatives, said the government is committed to sustaining the NTR health scheme and ensuring uninterrupted medical care for the public. He also stated that the government would hold consultations with hospital associations before taking decisions on the proposed Universal Health Scheme.
Expressing satisfaction over the outcome, Association of Hospitals President Vijaya Kumar Reddy announced that all NTR health services would be fully restored from today.
With this resolution, network hospitals across Andhra Pradesh have withdrawn their protest and resumed services under the NTR scheme, marking a significant step in restoring confidence among both patients and healthcare providers. The State’s commitment to clearing arrears and strengthening the healthcare network is expected to bring stability to the system, ensuring that thousands of patients once again have access to affordable and quality medical treatment.
