Minister for  Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday demanded that Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan tender an unconditional apology to the people of Telangana over his derogatory remarks.

Komatireddy warned that if Pawan Kalyan did not comply, his films would not be allowed to be screened in the state. The Minister's remarks followed Pawan Kalyan's recent claim that Telangana had negatively impacted the development of Konaseema, a statement that sparked considerable backlash from various groups.

Expressing strong disapproval of the actor-turned-politician's comments, Venkat Reddy noted that during the combined Andhra Pradesh era, the revenue generated from Hyderabad was allocated to the development of Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy remarked, “It’s not an evil eye from Telangana; in reality, our people had to endure fluoride-laden water for 60 years under the leadership of Andhra leaders. Our resources, including water, funds, and employment opportunities, were seized."

He expressed disappointment that, even after 11 years since the establishment of Telangana, leaders continue to make inflammatory remarks that have caused significant distress among the state's residents. Venkat Reddy cautioned, “If Pawan Kalyan offers an apology, his films will be allowed to be shown in the Nizam region for a few days. However, if he refuses to apologise, none of his films will receive permission for screening here.”

On the other hand, Jadcherla MLA J Anirudh Reddy, who acknowledged his admiration for Pawan Kalyan, also strongly criticised the comments made by the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, insisting that the actor should withdraw his comments and tender an apology to the people of Telangana.
