Tension gripped Tadwai mandal headquarters in Kamareddy district on Tuesday as a proposed protest by BRS leaders demanding withdrawal of the ‘urea app’ triggered a massive police mobilisation and preventive detentions across the region, turning the town into a high-security zone with restrictions on movement and continuous vehicle checks on key routes.

Police launched early morning operations around 3 am, detaining several BRS leaders ahead of the protest call. Security forces were deployed along Ellareddy–Kamareddy road and surrounding villages, stopping and inspecting vehicles while taking suspected activists into custody and shifting them to nearby police stations, including Tadwai, Kamareddy and Gandhari. Extensive checkpoints across connecting roads.

At the old bus stand in Tadwai, tensions escalated when Single Window Chairman Kapil Reddy Nallavelli and BRS mandal president Narsimhulu arrived carrying petrol bottles and attempted to stage a protest. Police immediately intervened, seized the bottles and arrested both leaders, preventing a possible escalation. Officials said the quick response averted a major risk.

Former MLA Jajala Surender was detained by police while attempting to join the protest and shifted to a station. He alleged suppression of democratic protests over farmers’ issues and demanded withdrawal of the urea app.

Former minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy was placed under house arrest, with police preventing him from leaving his residence. Authorities said preventive measures maintained law and order as Tadwai remained tense but under control by afternoon.
