Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said the Telangana government would urge the Centre to allocate the entire quantity of urea produced at the Ramagundam Fertilisers plant to the state.
Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd is located in Ramagundam town in Telangana’s Peddapalli district.Reddy, who chaired a review meeting on monsoon preparedness, said the state government would write to the Centre seeking allocation of the entire urea output from the Ramagundam plant.He directed officials to create awareness among farmers about the possibility of scanty rainfall in view of the prevailing El Niño conditions, according to a release.Officials gave a presentation to the CM on El Niño, a weather phenomenon associated with warming in the Pacific Ocean.
Reddy suggested that farmers be educated about crops that require less water and encouraged crop diversification.He directed officials to complete maintenance works related to project gates and other infrastructure on a war footing.
The CM also ordered that the Rs 1,000 crore fund available with the disaster response department be utilised in accordance with rules.Reddy stressed the need for a swift response by officials during disasters to minimise loss of human life, livestock, and property damage, the release added.
