SCR achieves unprecedented growth for last three consecutive years, freight revenue jumps

The gross originating revenue rose from Rs 18,976 crores in 2022–23 to Rs 20,569 crores in 2024–25

Freight revenue increased from Rs 13,051 crores in FY 2022-23 to Rs 13,864 crores in FY 2024-25

Capital expenditure also reached record levels, totalling Rs 47,050 crores across the three years

South Central Railway (SCR) has consistently delivered outstanding performance for three consecutive financial years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25 under the leadership of its General Manager Arun Kumar Jain. Reflecting on this period of sustained excellence, he stated that the remarkable performance over the past three years is the result of the collective efforts and dedication of every member of the organization. He appreciated the team of SCR comprising of supervisors, officers and frontline staff as “deeply committed, highly capable, and always ready to go the extra mile.”

The gross originating revenue of SCR rose from Rs 18,976 crores in 2022–23 to Rs 20,569 crores in 2024–25. Freight loading peaked at 144.1 million tonnes in 2024–25. Freight revenue also saw substantial growth from Rs 13,051 crores in FY 2022-23 to Rs 13,864 crores in FY 2024-25. In the field of engineering, SCR executed some of its significant projects including construction of 2.2 kms rail flyover near Gudur and commissioning of its first-ever rail-under-rail structure near Kazipet. Capital expenditure also reached record levels, totaling Rs 47,050 crores across the three years.

A new terminal has been developed at Charlapalli at a cost of Rs 413 crores with world-class amenities and a contemporary station building.The zone’s locomotive strength saw a notable boost with the commissioning of 396 electric locomotives in three years, increasing the total to 1,268 and making SCR the second-largest electric loco-holding zone in the country.

The Zone’s efforts in sustainable operations and energy conservation were recognized nationally, with prestigious awards including National and State Energy Conservation Awards, CII Awards, Green Co certifications, and Shunya+ labelling. For the overall performance, SCR was also honored with performance efficiency shields by the Railway Board over the last three years, including in the Civil Engineering and Construction categories in 2024.
