Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence by winning national-level Five Star Ratings for four of its coal mines in the last financial year. The awards were presented by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy to SCCL C&MD N. Balram at a ceremony held in Mumbai on Thursday.
The Star Rating system, initiated by the Ministry of Coal, evaluates mines across 84 parameters including performance, safety, environmental standards, infrastructure, and worker welfare. Mines scoring above 91 out of 100 receive the coveted Five Star Rating. The evaluation includes both field inspections and final selection by a central committee.
C&MD N. Balram congratulated employees and encouraged all units to strive for more national recognitions through sustained excellence. In addition to the top awards, 14 mines received Four Star Ratings (scores between 80 and 90), and 20 mines earned Three Star Ratings. Notably, even mines that had previously scored lower improved their performance this year. SCCL continues to be recognized as a leader in eco-friendly mining, safety, infrastructure, and welfare, showcasing the strength of its management and commitment to sustainable development.
