Singareni CMD exhorts employees to optimise working hours

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) CMD N. Balram on Monday emphasized that every employee must be a participant in ensuring a sustainable future for Singareni, which is evolving into an international organization under the guidance of the state government. He appealed to the recognized workers union to support management initiatives aimed at improving work culture, especially by ensuring that every employee must utilize 8 hours shift in a dedicated manner.

Speaking at the 39th constructive meeting with the recognized workers union, Singareni Collieries Workers Union at Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, he stated that coal prices have been reduced to remain competitive thereby making it imperative to lower production costs. He urged employees to utilize full working hours and maximize machinery usage.

CMD  Balram revealed that SCCL is planning expansion to operate in 10 states across India. To transform the coal-centric company into a 5,000 MW renewable energy producer, Singareni Green Energy and Singareni Global Limited will be established for global mineral exploration and mining. With 40,000 employees and 30,000 contract workers depending on the company, efforts are underway to acquire new coal blocks through auctions, ensuring a future for the next 100 years.

During the meeting, Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, MLA of Kothagudem and honorary president of the Singareni Collieries Workers Union, appreciated CMD N. Balram for his initiatives in transforming SCCL into an international company. He emphasized the need to introduce a housing scheme for workers and establish a Cath Lab in Kothagudem. He urged the management to enhance medical services for retired workers and proposed the establishment of a thermal power plant in Kothagudem, keeping in view the region’s future. He also requested the launch of a new project in Yellandu, the birthplace of SCCL.

SCCL to build 1,000 staff quarters worth Rs 300 crore

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has announced a major welfare initiative to construct 1,000 double-bedroom quarters for employees at a cost of Rs 300 crore. The spacious quarters will come up in Godavarikhani, Srirampur, Manuguru, Kothagudem, and Bhupalpally, offering comfortable and modern living facilities for its workforce.

SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram made the announcement during the 39th Structural Meeting with the recognized workers’ union in Hyderabad. He said SCCL is committed to ensuring the best welfare standards among public sector enterprises, and housing remains a top priority. Alongside this, he revealed plans to open a Cath Lab at the Godavarikhani hospital within two months and establish a super-speciality hospital in Hyderabad to enhance medical services for employees.

To improve education for employees’ children, a CBSE school has been started at the Ramagundam-2 area, with plans for more such schools in other regions. Balaram emphasized that SCCL’s sustainability depends on improved work culture and productivity, urging all employees to utilize their full duty hours effectively. He said lowering production costs is crucial for maintaining welfare schemes and competitiveness.

Balaram also outlined SCCL’s future roadmap, including expansion into ten Indian states and the establishment of Singareni Green Energy for 5,000 MW renewable power and Singareni Global Limited for mineral exploration. He assured that workers’ concerns will be addressed under company norms.
