The management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has issued orders to reinstate 43 Junior Mining Engineer Trainees (JMETs) who were earlier terminated for various reasons, including prolonged absence and failure to submit necessary certificates.
The above decision is taken following a 'tripartite agreement' between the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner, SCCL management and the Singareni Collieries Workers Union (AITUC).
As per the agreement, these re-appointments will be treated as 'fresh appointments'. The reinstated trainees must appear before a high-power committee, and submit relevant certificates (Overman, Gas Testing, First Aid etc.), and clear a medical fitness test. Only then the SCCL will issue preliminary appointment orders. Reappointed JMETs are required to work for a minimum of 190 musters in their first year of service.
SCCL chairman and managing director N. Balaram urged the employees to value this second chance, and stressed that securing jobs in the current competitive market is difficult and that they should contribute their best services to the company.
